Jamaican international Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has been honored with a spot in the Women’s Super League PFA team of the year.
The Manchester City striker has been recognized for her extraordinary performances in the 2022/23 season. The Reggae Girl was declared as the club’s player of the season. She finished the season with 31 goals in all competitions. She broke City’s record for the most goals in a single season. This record was initially held by Nikita Parris.
Shaw also clinched the PFA fans’ player of the month for January as well as the Super League Player of the month for October.
Shaw also played a major role in Jamaica’s qualification for their second consecutive World Cup. She was the captain as the Reggae Girlz finished third in the Concacaf Women’s Championship.
Meantime, the young player of the year award was clinched by Chelsea star Lauren James. The FA Women’s players’ player of the year award was clinched by Aston Villa striker Rachel Daly.
The awards were dominated by Manchester City players. The Citizens striker Erling Haaland was also recognized with the PFA men’s player of the year award. He scored 36 goals in 35 premier league games. Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka also went home with the young player of the year.
Gavin Makel; City’s women’s managing director, said that they’re delighted that Bunny and her teammates were recognized in the PFA Team-of-the-Season.
