Smith was crowned the top scorer with a staggering 55 goals in the prep school football season.
Last Saturday, Lannaman’s Prep thrashed defending champions Emmanuel Christian Academy Prep (ECA) 2-0 in the JISA Alberga Cup final that went down in Sts Peter & Paul Preparatory School.
Lannaman’s Prep scored one goal in the first half and the other in the second. The goals came from Shaquan Small and Avon Stirlin respectively to secure victory. This league title was added to the Henriques Cup knockout title victory which was secured a week prior to this.
As expected, the game was a tough challenge as the champions strived hard to defend their championship against one of the best team this season.
During the 7th minute, Lannaman’s failed to score after Small failed to convert a corner kick by Stirlin from the right corner as ECA strained valorously to secure their third consecutive title.
Barely 11 minutes into the second half, Sterlin closed the scoring board when he fired a shot from the left side past the goalkeeper into the goal’s corner thus securing Lannaman’s second title in a week. Liam Delisser and Dashuan Smith helped Mona Prep secure a 2-0 victory over Sts Peter & Paul in the third-place play-off.
Smith was crowned the top scorer with a staggering 55 goals in the prep school football season. Meanwhile, Belair Prep secured second place in the Henriques Cup while Mona Prep were second runners-up in the tournament.
Lannaman’s Prep coach, Haron Martin who won the JISA double while playing at the institution, was proud of this achievement. Despite losing, ECA’s coach Gregory Jones seemed benignant.
30 prep schools from all over Jamaica took part in the tournament which had taken a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed in October this year.
