This win means that Unai Emery’s Villa now has 32 points and they now sit in the eighth position
Leon Bailey found his goal-scoring boots in Aston Villa’s latest match in the English premier league. Villa returned to winning ways after recent struggles in the EPL. Bailey’s late goal secured a 2-1 victory over Leicester City. The two teams were competing in Villa Park.
The Reggae Boyz winger restored Villa’s lead with a goal that arrived in the 76th minute. The all-important goal was created by a cross that was delivered by Ian Maatsen.
The game began in a cagey manner. There were few chances in the first half. The match finally opened up in the second half. Ross Barkley put Villa ahead with a beautiful volley. This goal arrived just before the hour mark.
Leicester got a chance to equalize but Mavididi put the ball wide. He made amends by scoring an equalizer just five minutes after Barkley’s goal.
After Bailey’s goal, the Foxes tried to fight back but they couldn’t find a second equalizer.
This win means that Unai Emery’s Villa now has 32 points and they now sit in the eighth position. On the other hand, Leicester are currently in the 19th position in the EPL. Leicester has 14 points; they’re trailing Wolverhampton Wanderers by two points.
This goal means that Bailey has ended a goal drought that has lasted since the beginning of the season. Villa are coming from a late draw against Brighton as well as a 3-0 loss Newcastle United.
The 27-year-old has struggled to find goals in his last 19 EPL appearances. This is his first goal since he struck against Bournemouth in April.
Bailey remains one of Aston Villa’s most important players. Since the start of last season, only Ollie Watkins has accumulated more goals and assists (44). Bailey boasts of 11 goals and 11 assists.
This win means that Villa has beaten the Foxes both home and away for the first time since the 2003-04 season. Leicester is currently on a 5-game losing streak and they have failed to keep a clean sheet in the last 21 appearances.
