This draw has helped Aston Villa end a three-game losing streak in the Premier League
Jamaica’s Leon Bailey scored a 74th minute goal to force a draw with Manchester City. This was Leon Bailey’s first league goal this season and it came after Erling Halaand opened the scoring in the 50th minute.
The two teams were forced to share a 1-1 draw in a game that happened at the Villa Park Stadium.
The first half was dominated by Manchester City. Pep Guadiola’s team had majority of the possession but they failed to score from the beautiful patterns they created in Aston Villa’s box.
Bailey and his Aston Villa teammates were happy to maintain a 0-0 draw going into half-time. However, this scoreline changed quickly in the second half after Halaand opened the scoring for City. The former Borrussia Dortmund striker produced a sublime finish after Kevin DeBruyne delivered a beautiful ball into the box.
Halaand has been a brilliant signing for Manchester City. He is currently the top scorer in the English Premier League with 10 goals in 6 matches.
The Citizens almost scored a second goal midway through the second half after De Bruyne delivered a free-kick that hit the crossbar.
Eventually, Villa found a goal of their own although it came against the run of play. Leon Bailey placed his finish into the top-left corner after he received a powerful cut-back from Jacob Ramsey.
The Jamaican international helped the Villans to maintain a valuable point. This draw has helped Aston Villa end a three-game losing streak in the Premier League.
