The Ballaz Academy and Inter Miami coaches were working with a total number of 40 players
Diego Garcia; an academy coach who works for Inter Miami, said that he was impressed by several Jamaican youth footballers. He was speaking at Liberty Park during the Royal Caribbean International Youth Clinic. The one-day session was hosted in collaboration with Ballaz Academy.
Garcia praised the players for showing a positive attitude.
“We are happy to share our knowledge in this country. With the right guidance, Jamaica can produce some of the best footballers in the world. The kids have shown good attitudes and good behavior,” he said.
“We were impressed by the values that they showcased. Some of the values that stood out are cooperation and teamwork. We’ve showed them some of the drills that we use at Inter Miami,” Garcia added.
The Ballaz Academy and Inter Miami coaches were working with a total number of 40 players.
Ballaz Academy released a statement in which they claimed that the session was a success. The institution was speaking through their director, Andre Virtue. He believes that that these training sessions will the players a taste of professional football.
“It’s a big deal that the Inter Miami coaches have visited us today. This experience will play a major role in the development of our young players,” Virtue explained.
“We want our players to play at the highest level of football. We are building a group of ambitious youngsters who will not see any limitations,” he added.
Camilla Jocelyn-Holt; who is Inter Miami’s director of community engagement, revealed that the initiative was started with the help of global cruise company Royal Caribbean.
This is the first time that Jamaica has hosted one of these youth clinics. The sessions are normally held in Florida.
“We decided to push our youth clinics to an international level because Royal Caribbean has a global brand. It was easy to work with Jamaican kids because Inter Miami was playing in Jamaica,” Jocelyn-Holt added.
Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami defeated Jamaica’s Cavalier FC with an aggregate score of 4-0. The two teams were competing in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
