This was City’s 4th victory in a row and they are now ranked fourth in the table
Manchester City and Reggae Girl star Khadija Shaw has scored 9 goals so far this season. Reading captain Emma Mukandi scored two own goals thus contributing to Manchester City’s 3-0 recent victory at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Khadija Shaw missed several chances to score before she finally got her goal. Lauren’s Hemp pressure led to the two mistakes by Mukandi in the second half. This was before Shaw, 25, deflected the cross from Mary Fowler to net a goal in the 76th minute. This was her 7th goal in 6 league games.
Shaw, who was born in Spanish Town, really struggled to replicate her previous outstanding performances during the first half of the match. She had the chance to open the scoring when she received a cross from Hemp but ended up striking the ball over the bar just before half-time.
The arrival of Chloe Kelly made city sharper during the last 15 minutes. 25-year-old Shaw eventually netted her goal after an elevated ball was swung in by Fowler. She scored with a header, ensuring no mistakes were made this time.
This was City’s 4th victory in a row and they are now ranked fourth in the table as the football world heads into the international break.
On the other hand, Reading are ranked second-last with3 points. This season, the team gained its first points last weekend by beating Leicester after playing 14 WSL matches without a single win.
The other two United Kingdom-based Reggae Girlz, Shania Hayles and Drew Spence, were relegated due to the pitches being waterlogged which saw the Tottenham Hotspurs’ match against Everton and the Bristol City’s match being postponed.
Mid-fielder Spence recently secured a brace for Tottenham in the 8-0 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion whereas Hayles has netted 6 goals for second-tier Bristol City in 7 matches.
