Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw for netting two goals in a 4-0 win against Leicester City
Gareth Taylor, Manchester City’s head coach, stated that he was extremely pleased with Reggae Girl, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw for netting two goals and helping them win their debut match of the English Women’s Super League season. The game went down at the Academy Stadium whereby Manchester City clobbered Leicester City 4-0.
The Jamaican Shaw scored the first goal of the match in the 24th minute after deflecting a cross from Lauren Hemp with a poacher’s header near the far post. She later netted her second goal in the 79th minute which came as a rebound for the team after Alex Greenwood failed to score with a penalty. The match’s second goal was scored by Hemp, also with a header, in the 72nd minute. Y. Hasegawa netted the last goal in the 88th minute.
Shaw, 25, has so far secured 5 goals this season, three being in the league. Coach Taylor revealed that she is quite sure Shaw was fully dedicated because she has displayed an outstanding performance so far. She also said that Shaw’s performance has improved in this season’s WSL as compared to last year’s performances where she was facing stiff competition from Ellen White. After White retired, Chloe Kelly, Hemp and Shaw have stepped up as City’s new attacking top three following their exemplary display in their first game.
