Michael ‘Venom’ Page produced a dominant performance in his UFC debut against Kevin Holland. The two fighters delivered an entertaining welterweight fight at UFC 299. The event happened at the Kaseya Centre in Miami, Florida.
The London-based Page, 36, won by unanimous decision. He used his signature showboating, distance control and kickboxing style to beat American Holland, 31.
Page got into mixed martial arts because his parents Pauline and Michael Sr. practiced Laug Gar Kung Fu. He has a Jamaican mother while his father is from Trinidad and Tobago. Interestingly, Page has siblings who are champions in Kickboxing.
The ex Bellator superstar was was a slight underdog heading into the fight. However, he proved the oddmakers wrong by winning the fight. Holland struggled to figure out Page’s elusive footwork. He has defeated many opponents with his slick in-and-out striking style.
The event was attended by ex-US President Donald Trump. Holland had a slight advantage after he took Page down in the second round. Holland landed a few ground-and-pound shots they weren’t enough to stop the debutant. Page got back up and proceeded to land heavy shots on Holland. He landed a nasty right hand that cut Holland under his eye.
Page out-classed Holland for three rounds and the only thing that saved the American from being knocked out was his incredible chin.
Page made his mixed martial arts debut in 2012. He has 22 wins and only 2 losses in his entire MMA career. He became famous because of his viral knockouts and his charismatic personality. He spent most of his MMA career in Bellator and the UFC signed him because his contract expired. The UFC has always wanted to sign him and it was no surprise that the fans cheered for him during his debut.
MMA experts have predicted that he will become an even bigger MMA star because has a very good marketing department.
