The doctors told him that it will take six-to-12 months for him to complete his rehabilitation process
LONDON, UK — Michail Antonio has expressed confidence that he is on track to making a full recovery. The Jamaica international believes that he will play football again despite suffering from a “shattered leg.”
The West Ham striker was involved in a car crash that “almost took his life.” On Dec. 7, he drove into a tree while driving a Ferrari. This crash might have been caused by the wet and windy weather in London.
The Reggae Boy striker revealed that he had to undergo a surgery in which “the doctors put a pole in my thigh. The pole is being held with the help of four bolts.” He required this operation because he broke his femur bone in four places. He revealed this information while speaking in a BBC interview.
Antonio, 35, recently visited a scrapyard that had the remains of his car. He said: “I was left with a weird feeling in my stomach. This experience made realize that I have a purpose. God spared me for a reason.”
The doctors told him that it will take six-to-12 months for him to complete his rehabilitation process. However, the footballer believes that he is “two-to-three months ahead of schedule.”
“You will see me on the pitch again, 100%. I will make my comeback,” he said.
The star player, who has six kids, said that he was devastated by the idea of not being able to raise his children. “I’m glad that God has given me a chance to see my children grow up. This is another chance at life,” he added.
Antonio became a West Ham player in 2015 after he completed a move from Nottingham Forest. He boasts of being West Ham’s all-time leading goal scorer. He has registered more than more than 300 appearances for the London-based club. Before the car crash, he had participated in all 14 games this season.
