Nicholas ‘The Axeman’ Walters Returns To Boxing

The Jamaican is an ex world champion. He will fight on March 8 on the undercard of Joel Gonzales and Arnold Khegai

Nicholas ‘The Axeman’ Walters is expected to make his boxing comeback when he faces Mexican Luis Torres. The Jamaican boxer; who is an ex-super featherweight champion, will be fighting in a 10-round fight on March 8. The fight will be held at the Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

The main bout of the night will be between Joel Gonzales and Arnold Khegai. Walters’ fight is the co-feature bout.

Walters hasn’t been very active in recent years. The Jamaican took a break from boxing after a devastating loss at the hands of Ukranian superstar Vasiliy Lomachenko. The Axeman was forced to quit in the seventh round.

The two boxers were fighting for the WBO junior lightweight belt on November 26, 2016. He would go on to secure a win over Luis Diaz Marmol of Colombia on February 25, 2023.

He would proceed to earn two victories after that. On November 22, 2023, he defeated Reynaldo Esquivia before winning over Joseph Adomo, on March 27, 2024. He won via a second-round tko and points respectively.

Walters; who is now a 39-year-old veteran, told journalists that he is looking to defeat the much younger Torres. Despite his age, Walters still maintains an enviable 29-1-1 record. On the other hand, the 23-year-old Torres has an equally impressive record of 20-1. The Jamaican was speaking during one of his training camps.

“I have worked very hard and I believe that I am in great shape to win this fight,” he said. He added, ”I  am planning to ruin his night. He is coming in as a confident fighter who has not had many setbacks, but I am the experienced one in this situation. I will use some tricks that he has never seen. I will use all the experience I have gained from boxing.”

“I believe that I have several years left in the ring. I am going there to win. I have been a world champion before and my punches still pack a lot of power. I have no choice but to win this fight.”

He then continued, “I want to fight in three months after I defeat Torres. I want to be active again because I want to win another tittle.” He revealed that his trainer Jaime Moreno is pushing him to regain his world championship title. “I am doing this for my Jamaican fans who still believe in me.” Pro Box TV will televise the fight.
