Noah Lyles Hoping To Break Bolt Record

He revealed that he was motivated after witnessing Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s longetivity

Noah Lyles has said that he is working on breaking Usain Bolt’s records. The American said that he believes that he is still young enough to achieve this fete. He revealed that he was motivated after witnessing Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s longetivity.

Lyles made a name for himself when he won the gold medal in this year’s Olympic games. He won the 100m race with an impressive time of 9.79 seconds. The second position was taken by Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson.

Bolt is still regarded as the fastest man of all times. He broke the world record with a time of 9.58 in the 2009 World Championships. He also broke the Olympic record when secured a time of 9.63 in the 2012 games.

The 27-year-old Lyles said that he is hoping to break both the 200m and 100m records. I have received a lot of inspiration from Fraser-Pryce. ”She has been dominating sprinting events in the last two decades,” he said in an interview. This is a difficult task for Lyles to accomplish considering Bolt broke his first record at the age of 23.

In 2021, the 38-year-old Fraser-Pryce clocked a time of 10.60 to become the third fastest woman of all times. She also secured a time of 21.79 (personal best) in the same year. These times were recorded in 100m and 200m respectively.
Fraser-Pryce has won several global medals since she turned 30. In 2019 and 2022, she won the World Championships. She also won the gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
“In previous times, sprinters would reach their prime at around 30. However, technology has allowed us to push this age to 35,” said Lyles.

Lyles has emerged as Bolt’s closest challenger in the 200m race. He clocked a time of 19.31 in 2022 when he won the World Championships.
Lyles will be hoping to compete in the Tokyo World Athletic Championships in September.
