Retired Guyana and West Indies cricketer Milton Robert Pydanna, has died. The legendary player enjoyed a long career in which he played as a batsman/wicketkeeper.
He was 75 years old when he passed away on Tuesday.
Between 1970 and 1988, he played in many first-class games. He delivered many spectacular performances in his role as a wicketkeeper/batsman.
He also participated in three ODI’s as part of 27 List ‘A’ matches. Most of these games were played for the West Indies.
In 1980, he played two of his three ODIs against Pakistan. In 1983, he also had a similar match while playing against India.
In the 1970s and 1980s, he struggled to beat Jeffrey Dujon, Michael Finlay and Deryck Murray for a spot in the great West Indies Test team. All the above players were legendary first-choice wicketkeepers.
Pydanna was a mainstay in the Guyana national team, the Berbice inter-county team as well as the Police first-division team. He acquired many individual awards by the time he was done with his lengthy cricket career.
Pydanna enjoyed a career in coaching after he retired from his playing career. In 2014, he worked as an assistant coach in the USA national team.
