Recently, Reggae Boyz midfielder Devon ‘Speedy’ Williams was signed by Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in preparation of the upcoming 2023 season of the United Soccer League (USL) Championship season.
The 30-year-old player was representing Miami FC for the past two seasons of the USL Championship since 2021. Currently, he holds three Championship titles which he won while playing for the New York Red Bulls II in 2016, then later in 2017 and 2018 while playing for Louisville City. While still playing for Louisville City, he claimed the Eastern Conference title back in 2019.
Williams has represented Jamaica in the global scene 23 times, one instance being in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He has also played for the Jamaican U-20 team five times whereby he netted his debut international goal for the nation during their match against Aruba in the 2019 Nations League.
Furthermore, Williams has made 53 appearances while playing for Miami FC including the 29 matches played in 2022 whereby he secured 3 goals. He boasts of having an 87% passing accuracy average with 39 key passes over the last two seasons.
Moreover, Williams was crowned the USL Championship’s Player of the Week last year when he helped Miami FC beat Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. He spent 2 consecutive seasons while playing for the New York Red Bulls II thus gaining him his professional start. He also made 39 appearances securing 2 goals thus helping the team claim the 2016 Championship title.
Williams later signed with Louisville City in 2017 whereby he spent four productive seasons. He scored 9 goals for the team with seven assists.
