He will work as the assistant coach of the Reggae Boyz. In 2017, he helped England win the Under-17 FIFA World Cup
The Reggae Boyz have appointed Paul Simpson as their assistant coach. He has previously worked as the manager of the England Under-20 team.
The Jamaica Football Federation believes that the Jamaican national team will benefit from the ‘knowledgeable’ Simpson. They believe that Simpson has the ability to improve the Reggae Boyz squad. This is because he helped England win the 2017 Under-17 FIFA World Cup.
Roy Simpson; who is the general manager of JFF, revealed that they chose Simpson because he showed his intelligence during his playing and coaching career. He is expected to play a major role as Jamaica works towards participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“He has a deep understanding of the game because he has worked with senior players. He has been at the top level for some time now. We expect him to be a difference-maker for the Reggae Boyz,” the JFF general manager said.
“He knows what he wants to achieve. He is meticulous and well organized. He pays attention to small details when he is working with players and other staff members.
“We’ve had a few discussions and it’s already clear that he can cope with the pressure of being a top-level coach. We believe he will bring some fresh ideas.”
