This loss meant that the Reggae Boyz were knocked out of the Concacaf Nations League
The Reggae Boyz were disappointed after they suffered from a big loss. The United States thrashed them in a game that ended with a score-line of 4-2. The two teams were competing in the quarterfinal of the Concacaf Nations League. The game was held at CityPark Stadium in St Louis, Missouri.
The Jamaicans were hoping to pull off another famous comeback in this competition. However, their fire was extinguished by two goals from Christian Pulisic.
The Americans began this second leg game with a thud and it wasn’t long before they scored the opening goal.
The Americans were in control of the game when Pulisic found the back of the net in the 14th minute. The competitiveness of the game was finished when he scored another goal in the 33rd minute.
Ricardo Pepi, who scored in the first leg, continued to torment the Jamaicans. He scored a 42nd minute goal. This resulted in a 4-0 aggregate lead when the teams went into halftime.
The Jamaicans refused to give up and they grabbed a 53rd minute when Demarai Gray struck from range. However, the USA killed any thought of a comeback when Tim Weah produced a sublime goal in the 56th minute.
This was Weah’s first game after serving a suspension. This was his first appearance under coach Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine coach was recently appointed as the USMNT coach after a small stint at Chelsea FC.
Still, the Reggae Boyz kept fighting and Gray scored another consolation goal in the 68th.
By the end of the game, the aggregate score was 5-2.
