The teams are using a new format for the qualifiers, the round-robin stage will only be played once. There are eight groups. Each team has to compete against other group-mates at least once.

The winners of the eight groups will get a chance to play in the expanded Under-17 World Cup that will now feature 48 nations. This tournament will be hosted by Qatar from November 5. It’s important to note that Concacaf qualifiers don’t have a knockout stage.

From 1985-2005, there were 16 teams in the FIFA tournament. Now, there have been 24 from 2007-23.
