The Reggae Girlz were on the end of a narrow 1-0 loss to rivals Chile. The match was played in Santiago Tuesday night. The Girlz fought hard to deliver an improved performance after a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of the same team.
The Jamaica and Chile national senior women’s football teams have been engaged in a two-match friendly series.
The lone goal was scored by midfielder Yessenia Lopez in the 34th minute. The two teams were competing in the Estadio Municipal de La Pintana Stadium.
Coach Xavier Gilbert, the Reggae Girlz coach, said that he was happy that his players showed more determination in the second match. He believes that his players showed hunger to win throughout the match.
He believes that his players created enough chances to win the game. They were only failed by their blunt finishing. However, he believes that they can build from this recent experiences.
Gilbert said that the squad will not return home empty-handed. Both the technical staff and the players will learn a lot from the trip.
The Reggae Grilz had a forgettable performance when they lost 5-1 to Chile on Friday. The two teams were competing in the Complejo Juan Pinto Duran Stadium in Macul.
The Chileans got their goals through Michelle Olivares, Maria Jse Urrutia, Yastin Jimenez, Yenny Acuna and Paloma Aracela Bustamante Duarte. The goals happened in the 12th minute, 22nd minute, 61st minute, 70th minute and the 88th minute respectively. Jamaica’s goal came from the penalty spot when Chinyelu Asher scored in the 77th minute.
