Richards produced a powerful shot that was deflected into the back of the net in the 90+2 minute
The Jamaican national team continued their Gold Cup campaign with a 4-1 thrashing of Trinidad and Tobago. This win comes after an underwhelming draw against the United States in the opening game.
Jamaica dominated majority of the possession in the first half. The Jamaicans would have ended the first half with more goals if the attackers weren’t so wasteful.
The Reggae Boyz first goal came in the 14th minute through Demarai Gray. Michail Antonio made a run into Trini’s defence and leon bailey pounced on a loose ball. Bailey provided a sublime pass to find Gray who proceeded to bend the ball into the net.
The second goal was scored by Leon Bailey in the 17th minute. Joel Latibeaudiere delivered a long ball that found Bailey as he was making a run in-behind the defence. Bailey beat the offside trap before slotting the ball into the bottom corner. The Trini goalkeeper tried to stop Bailey but he was ultimately helpless.
Demarai Gray stepped up again to score the third goal in the 29th minute. This goal was created by another brilliant Michail Antonio run. Antonio created chaos in the box before passing the ball for an easy tap-in for Gray.
Trinidad and Tobago refused to go down without a fight. They fought back and secured a goal in the 49th minute. The goal was scored by Andre Rampersad; a talented midfielder who represents Canadian club HFX Wanderers.
Trinidad and Tobago did a better job of containing Jamaican attackers in the second half. However, that changed when Chelsea wonderkid Dujuan Richards came in a substitute in the 88th minute. He produced a powerful shot that was deflected into the back of the net in the 90+2 minute.
