Kerry Lee Ricketts; Head coach at the Ricketts Performance Group, has predicted that Tajay Gayle will have a successful 2025 season.
Gayle recently joined the Ricketts Performance Group after cutting ties with the MVP camp in Kingston. According to sources, he switched camps so that he can get the most out of his body. He believes that Ricketts understands what he needs from a coach. They will be working from St Elizabeth.
Gayle made a name for himself when he clinched the gold medal while competing in long jump in the 2019 World Championship.
“Gayle is a quick learner and he is fitting in well in his new environment,” said Ricketts.
In previous occasions, Gayle’s season used to start outdoors. However, this approach is set to change under the leadership of Ricketts. They will approach things differently in the next season.
Ricketts revealed that he will help Gayle address some of the technical issues in his game. Previously, Ricketts has found success while coaching Shanieka Ricketts. Shanieka won the silver medal while competing in the 2024 Olympic triple jump.
Gayle has struggled with injuries since 2021. He will be hoping that Ricketts can help him move past his injury problems.
Gayle boasts of being the national record holder with 8.69 metres as his personal best. He secured a jump of 8.28 metres to finish 10th in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
