Shaw Scores Again As Man City Win In Women’s Super League

This was her fourth goal in the current Women’s Super League campaign

Khadija Shaw scored yet another goal as Manchester City made easy work out of Crystal Palace. This was her fourth goal in the current Women’s Super League campaign. The match ended with a score-line of 3-0 in favor of Manchester City.
The Jamaican superstar striker has started her season in red-hot form. She has also scored 3 goals in three Champions League games.
Shaw, who is the all-time leading goal scorer of the English team, delivered a well-taken goal in the 73rd minute. This win means that Citizens can continue keeping up with title-favorites Chelsea FC.
The Citizens controlled the game in the first half but they were forced to be patient because Palace were showing some defensive resilience.
The first goal arrived in the 40th minute when Jess Park decided to take matters into her own hands. The midfielder produced an unbelievable long-range strike that gave her team the lead.
Jill Roord scored the second goal in the 50th minute after pouncing a loose ball. This was an instinctive goal that is normally associated with strikers. It isn’t common for midfielders like Jill Roord to score this types of goals.
Crystal Palace got a chance to respond when Ashleigh Weerden started a counter attack. She sprinted across the pitch before delivering a good cross inside the Manchester City box. However, this ended up as a wasted opportunity because striker Katie Stengel couldn’t convert it into a goal.
The 27-year-old Shaw finished the rout with a well-placed header that left the Crystal Palace goalkeeper in no-mans land. She out-jumped the Crystal Palace defenders after receiving a perfect cross from Jess Park.
City is leading the WSL table with 16 points after playing 6 games. Defending champions Chelsea are second with 15 points although they’ve only played 5 games. These two teams will be competing for the title this season.
