This is unfortunate news for Manchester City because the Reggae Girlz captain has been the best goal scorer in the Women’s Super League. She suffered from an injury that affected the lower part of her leg.
Shaw, the top forward for England Women’s Super League (WSL) team Manchester City, has an injury to her lower leg. Her club coach,
Gareth Taylor, the Manchester City coach, told journalists that the Jamaican striker will “need more extensive investigation on her injury”.
According to Taylor, doctors will determine the extent of the injury after conducting several scans on the star striker.
The 27-year-old was side lined in Manchester City’s recent 2-1 loss to Everton. The ninth-placed Everton began the game with a bang. They were leading with two goals by the end of the first half.
Everton opened the scoring when Lucy Hope scored from a corner kick situation. She scored a glancing header after receiving a wonderful cross. Honoka Hayashi added a second goal after she struck from outside the box.
The Manchester City players kept fighting and they were rewarded with a goal that arrived in the 89th minute. This consolation goal was scored by Mary Fowler.
It’s clear that Manchester City were missing their leading scorer. She currently has nine goals in the Women’s Super League.
The Jamaican striker scored twice when City faced Leicester in her last WSL match. This game happened on December 8. These goals arrived in the second and 29th minutes.
Man City are currently in battle for dominance in the WSL league. They currently occupy the second position in the league table after accumulating 22 points. On the other hand, Chelsea are leading table with 28 points. Arsenal are third on 21.
Chelsea are the defending champions and they haven’t lost momentum despite replacing coach Emma Hayes with Sonia Bompastor.
Taylor said that his players will have to adapt to the situation that has been caused by numerous injuries.
Manchester City will clash against Barcelona in their next fixture. This Women’s Champions League match will happen on Wednesday.
