The event is expected to last between November 8th to 10th

Trinidad and Tobago is working on hosting the Special Olympics Caribbean Beach Games. This will be the first event of it’s kind and the organizers are already thinking of making it an annual occurrence.
The landmark event will be composed of 13 regional programmes. They include beach football, beach bocce, aquathlon among other disciplines. The event is expected to last between November 8th to 10th.
Athletes with intellectual disabilities will get a chance to showcase their talent as they compete against their peers. This is also an opportunity to create relationships in the region.
The organizers are hoping to attract around 70 coaches, 130 athletes and numerous volunteers. They will be participating in sporting activities on the beach.
The organizers will also conduct health forums that include screening. They will also run a Family Engagement Workshop.
According to Lorna Bell, the Executive Director Special Olympics Caribbean Initiative, they are working on developing Beach Games. Bell believes that they can make this a signature event because the Caribbean is surrounded by water.
Bell believes that they will promote respect, understanding and inclusion through the power of sports.
They believe that they can popularize the Special Olympics.
They will work with regional governments in a quest to improve the livelihoods of individuals with intellectual disabilities. They will secure this through making favorable policies.
