Field Lacrosse
Field Lacrosse is the men’s version of outdoor full contact lacrosse. In this game there are 10 players on each team. It is one of three major versions of lacrosse played internationally (the others being Box Lacrosse and Women’s Lacrosse).
The field measures 110 yards long by 60 yards wide. A triangle-handled racket is used to carry the rubber ball across the 110-yard course. The weight of the ball is about 140-149 grams. The racket’s triangular head is used to carry the ball and score in the opponent’s goal.
Each men’s lacrosse team has ten players, usually positioned around the field as three attacking men, three midfielders, three defensemen, and a goaltender. In men’s lacrosse, midfielders can cover the entire field. Defenders and attackers must remain on their respective sides of the midfield line so that there are no more than six offensive players (not including the goalkeeper) on the defending side. A defender may cross the midfield line to the offensive side while he is carrying the ball as long as a midfielder remains behind the midfield line.

The rules say that the rubber ball must be in motion at all times. The rubber ball is known as a ‘lacrosse ball’. Players wear a certain amount of protection such as an elbow guard, helmet, and gloves to protect themselves from injury from physical contact.
Lacrosse can be played by men and women. There is a world championship event known as the World Championship of Lacrosse, which is played every four years.
